Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)

What is Enterprise Resource Planning? Why do businesses need to use ERP?

ERP breaks down traditional functional barriers in organizations by facilitating sharing/sharing of data, sharing information flows, and introducing/channeling common business practices among all users in the organization.

ERP is an integrated system used by companies to integrate all company resources. The use of an ERP system will facilitate the planning and management of company resources.

History of ERP

2000

With the influence of the internet in the 2000s, the use of ERP has become increasingly widespread and transcends distance and space. Now the ERP system can be used by any division seamlessly without the need to wait for one another.

1990

Gartner Group called this system ERP for the first time in 1990. ERP systems that used to only handle warehouses now can be integrated with existing problems in the office, such as sales information and financial predictions.

1980

The software was further developed and upgraded to MRP-II. In this version, the software has begun to be able to handle the scheduling of manufacturing production processes.

1970

A decade later, the existing system was further developed and called MRP or Manufacturing Resource Planning.

1960

The first ERP is known to have appeared in the 1960s, although it is still not called ERP, the basic concept is almost the same and began to be used to deal with simple industrial problems.

Why ERPs?

ERP has been developed as an integration tool, with the aim of integrating all enterprise applications into a data storage center that is easily accessible to all parts that need it.

The ERP system has the function of simplifying various operational activities that take up a lot of time and effort, such as monitoring working hours, processing payroll, and using financial reporting applications, all of which can be done automatically. That way the team can focus more on doing other work
